Summer Vacation

I have failed to keep up with this blog thing once again! Seeing as how I have a lot of free time lately, I am surprised I haven't written sooner. I am only working 2 mornings this summer. At first I was a bit disappointed because I was promised 4 mornings. However, I am certain this was a gift from God. I have really enjoyed the time off. I go to work feeling rejuvenated and not so burnt out. Plus, 2 of my best friends are also not working much this summer so we have started a bible study. We're going to read "Don't waste your life" by John Piper. I have read it before and loved it, so I am ready to read it again. John Piper is an awesome preacher. I got to see him live in Palm Springs at the Resolved conference. Also John MacArthur, CJ Mahaney, Rich Holland and Steve Lawson. They each brought something different to the conference but all solid biblical teaching. Such a blessing to be there are fellowship with other belivers. After Resolved we go to visit with our family in Corte D'Alene and Spokane. It was fun exploring new surroudings, but it was a little too dreary for me. I did enjoy the thunder and lightning at night from the 15th floor of the hotel. Quite a spectacular show! It made me think of Twilght as well, and picturing vamipres playing baseball. We celebrated my dear husband's birthday with good friends, good burritos and good ice cream. I hope he had a wonderful day.

I got to see some fun movies this summer. Pixar's latest "Up" was fantastic. If you haven't seen it you should. In fact, go twice. Once in 3D, once in old fashion regular way. That's what I did! I have read some good books so far. I have really enjoyed reading Jhumpa Lahiri's short stories. I finished Interpreter of Maladies and I am now working on Unaccustomed Earth.

Other than reading, watching movies, spending time with friends and working out, that has kept my days pretty busy. Oh I also recently finished a jigsaw puzzle of the Peanuts gang that I bought at the goodwill store. I hope the summer will continue to be as great as it already has been!

Hi Jamie. I enjoy hearing what you are up to since I don't get to be there with you anymore.

I really enjoyed John Piper's "Don't Waste Your Life." It is a challenge to implement it in your life, though, The world and all its glitter being so distracting at times.
